Dear all,
The latest Lockdown order will expire on 14 June 2020. International border points and international flights will remain suspended till the end of this month.
Security measures have been put in place and many security personnel have been mobilized across the region and along India-Nepal border to implement lockdown order. Although the lockdown orders have not been eased officially, the number of people flocking to the streets and vehicle movements have increased substantially over the past couple of days. Markets in most of the places have been reported partially open.
COVID 19
09 June, May, a total of 1936 confirmed cases of COVID 19 have been reported in WR (Karnali-649, Sudurpaschim-108 & Province 5- 1179) while total count in the country has gone up to 3762. (Source: [https://covid19.ndrrma.gov.np)/]https://covid19.ndrrma.gov.np)
09 June, Jajarkot district, Swab collection has been stopped after labs in Jumla and Surkhet could not cope with the soaring number of COVID cases in Karnali. (Source: thehimalayantimes.com)
EASTERN Region (ER)/Far Easter Districts (FED):
09 June: Eastern region: Nationwide lockdown: GoN has extended the duration of nationwide lockdown until 14 June 2020. The effect of nationwide lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic, had been observed to be effective as usual in the ER. Police and APF are seen deployed in the streets to enforce the public to restrict unnecessary movements. In the city areas of ER, few grocery shops and emergency services ( Medical, Vegetable, Milk, Gas etc.) are observed to be open up to 3 pm everyday by the district administrations in various districts of the province 1 and 2. Personal movements are limited to access those services in order to ease the essential goods. Highways and roads are operational but limited for the emergency services allocated by the provincial government only with the permit issued by DAO. Borders attached with India and China have been completely shut down but daily consumable emergency items ( e.g. food, vegetables, medicines) are permitted on need basis. 2. ER COVID-19 Pandemic update- as of 09 June 2020:
i. 08 June: Dhanusha district: The number of police personnel contracting the novel coronavirus in Nepal has reached 34 after one more cop tested positive for COV- ID-19 in Dhanusha district. (Source: Himalayan times)
ii. 08 June: Province 2: Province government has decided to procure 4 additional PCR machine to fight against COVID-19. (Source: Online Khabar)
iii. 08 June: Sarlahi district: 120 new cases of COVID-19 were added in the tally of the district in the last 24 hours. (Source: Online Khabar)
iv. 08 June: Mahottari district: A person died after two days as he returned home from quarantine. (Source: Purbeli news)
